Our Studio
Taking cues from a variety of global and historical references, De La Vega’s furniture collection features sculpted forms and classic lines inspired by modernism of the Art Deco masters, as well as Mexican Mid-Century influences. The pieces are defined by rugged modernism, handmade in Brooklyn one piece at a time. The studio uses noble materials to reinvent forgotten techniques, crafting modern interpretations of remarkable bench-made finishes and designs. Attention to detail defines the visual language of the collection, from structural design to fine decorative artistry. A centerpiece of De La Vega’s engagement with art history is the Coquille D’Oeuf technique, which is a Vietnamese lacquer method using hand-placed eggshells and resin to create a captivating pattern. In conversation with Art Deco artist Jean Dunand’s use of the technique, the studio has developed a meticulous proprietary process that continues to be a source of inspiration and experimentation.
